Over the years, spaghetti is one of my family’s favorite foods. With or without occasion, my mom used to serve it on the table for us to enjoy. Spaghetti is best when cooked with beef, as they say. But I and my siblings don’t eat beef. Really!
We’re that picky eater– no matter how much we love the food on the table, we won’t eat it if it smells like beef was in it, or if we already knew the food was made with beef. We, as kids also love meatballs on our spaghetti, so my mom used to make pork meat instead. Can you believe that I still don’t eat beef until now?
You may raise an eyebrow, but I don’t have to pretend of liking a food made with beef. That’s just not me. My mom and dad eat beef. But because they don’t want foods to go to waste and so we could all enjoy, it become a tradition to skip beef on every dish and replaced it with pork instead. That is always applied when spaghetti and meatballs are served on the table.
To tell you a secret, despite the petite body, I’m a foodie! Who would have thought that I can eat a lot of spaghetti for a day without whining as long as it has pork meatballs? Just, no beef, please!
So here, I’m going to share a version of spaghetti with meatballs using the delicious RAGÚ® Homestyle pasta sauce! I always love how my mom used to cook this for us since we were just kids! This is a perfect dish for someone who love to eat spaghetti, but doesn’t enjoy the beef.
Spaghetti with meatballs for non-beef eater
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 lbs. lean ground pork
- 2 medium size eggs
- 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 jar RAGÚ® Homestyle Traditional Pasta Sauce
- 10 ounces spaghetti (cooked and drained)
Directions:
- In a clean bowl, combine ground pork, eggs, and bread crumbs. Get 1/2 cup of RAGÚ® Homestyle Traditional pasta sauce from its jar and add it in the bowl. Mix them well. Once you’re done with the mixing, you can start shaping them into cute meatballs. I made 20 meatballs, but you can do more or less depending on the amount of your preference.
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil and partially fry the meatballs in a medium heat. Add the remaining RAGÚ® Homestyle Traditional pasta sauce and gently blend with the partially fried meatballs. Cover and simmer in a low fire with occasional and gentle stirring for 10 minutes or until the meatballs are done.
- Serve over hot spaghetti.
Yum… This spaghetti reminds me of my childhood, and I’m planning to cook this for my baby when he grows a little older. I bet, he’s going to like it, too. And don’t forget to visit the RAGÚ®’s page for more delicious recipes!
